Artwork guidelines
Sharp logo or fuzzy logo? It starts with the file.
Not sure what you have? Send it anyway — we will tell you whether it will work.

The short version
Send a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) with text converted to outlines, and tell us your PMS colours. Everything else on this page is detail.
What to send
- .AIAdobe Illustrator — what most logos are designed in
- .EPSUniversal vector format
- .PDFSaved from vector artwork, not scanned or exported from an image
- .SVGVector, common from web designers
- .PNGHigh resolution, transparent background. Fine for transfers and digital print; not ideal for screen or pad
- .JPGOnly if large and sharp. No transparency, so a white box may need removing
- .PSD / .TIFFWorkable at high resolution with layers intact
- Logo copied from your websiteScreen images are ~72 dpi — far too small to print
- Logo pasted into Word, PowerPoint or ExcelThe file compresses it beyond use
- A photo or scan of a printed logo
- A screenshot of any of the above
If a website logo is all you have, tell us. We redraw logos into print-ready vector every week — quoted before we start, and the file is yours to keep.
Vector vs raster — why we keep asking
A raster file (JPG, PNG) is a fixed grid of pixels — enlarge it and you get bigger pixels, not more detail. A vector file stores your logo as shapes, so it scales from a pen clip to a marquee with no loss, and lets us separate it into print colours.
If you must send raster: 300 dpi at print size
A logo printed 80 mm wide needs to be at least about 950 pixels wide. More is better. Enlarging a small file in Photoshop does not add detail — it only makes the softness bigger.
Fonts
Convert all text to outlines before sending. If we do not have your font, it silently substitutes — and that can travel all the way to a proof. In Illustrator: select all, then Type → Create Outlines.
Colours
Send PMS references if you have them. Screen colours are not print colours, and the same ink looks different on white, grey and navy — dark products often need a white underbase. Screen and pad print price per colour: a gradient is not one colour.
One-colour and reversed versions
Laser engraving, debossing and single-colour screen print reproduce your logo as one solid tone. If you have a one-colour or all-black version, send it; if not, we will make one and show it on the proof.
Size and clear space
Fine lines and small text can fill in or drop out, especially in embroidery and on textured materials. Allow about 5 mm lettering height for embroidery and 2 mm for print. We flag anything too fine before production.
How to send it
Email files to sales@ampmpromo.com.au quoting your name and company. Over 20 MB? Use a file-transfer service and send us the link. By sending artwork you confirm you own it or are licensed to use it.
